
Daniel Ryan Sechtin, a senior from West Florence High School, was honored by the Samuel Bacot Chapter of the Daughters of American Revolution at their March meeting.
The DAR Good Citizens Program and Scholarship Contest is intended to encourage and reward the qualities of good citizenship. The student selected as the school’s DAR Good Citizen must have the following qualities:
Dependability (which includes truthfulness, loyalty, and punctuality);
Service (which includes cooperation, courtesy, and consideration of others);
Leadership (which includes personality, self-control, and ability to assume responsibility); and
Patriotism (which includes unselfish interest in family, school, community, and nation) to an outstanding degree.
This year’s Good Citizens Award nominees were:

Carolina Marie Hewitt, South Florence High School
Daniel Ryan Sechtin, West Florence High School
Pooja Viresh Sitapara, Wilson High School
Only one student per year may be honored as a school’s DAR Good Citizen.
