Lamar Civitans building Veterans Memorial

The Lamar Civitans are building a Veterans Memorial to be located in Parnell Park in Lamar. This memorial will be to honor all the men and women who have served or who are currently serving our country.

The memorial will be a large, six foot tall

granite monument with the insignias of all six branches of service. It will be inscribed with the words “All gave some, some gave all.”

Behind the monument will be three brick walls capped with granite with the names of those who served honorably.

Funds for the memorial will be through the sale of bricks to be placed on the walls. Each brick will have three lines with the name, rank/rate, branch of service and dates served or theater served in. Each brick will cost $50. Anyone may purchase a memorial brick for themselves or a loved one, living or deceased. Forms to purchase the bricks may be picked up at Lamar Town Hall, 117 West Main Street in Lamar or obtained from any Lamar Civitan Club member. Downloadable forms and more information are available online at www.lamarveteransmemorial.com.Tax deductible contributions to help defray the construction costs will be gladly accepted.

“This is a major project for the Lamar Civitan Club and we all feel that it will be a great addition to our town,” said Warren Jeffords, president of the Lamar Civitan Club. “It will be dedicated on Veterans’ Day, Nov. 12, 2012.”
